Day Three First Stop - Flag Point Track Site and Moqui Indian Pictograms

image from http://www.nps.gov/brca/geology_grand.html

Photos along the way to the Flag Point track site.

An erroded hill that formed a dino footprint like shape.

John points to the white spot on the mountain where we plan to hike to.

Photographs taken along the hike up the mountain.

Break Time!

I can see the car from here.

A panoramic view.

John makes it to the "white spot on the mountain".

Henry finds one odd print.

John finds the site!

The Moqui Indians (like E. Hitchcock) thought the tracks were made by giant creatures related to birds. They thought that this trackway was of one giant bird taking off into flight as it jumps off the cliff.

Henry is glad he made it up the mountain. It was worth the effort.

Proud of his achievement, John strikes a pose.

John finds the Moqui pictograms 10 feet below the track layer.

Exiting photos.

Day Three Third Stop - Zion Park (again)

More photos of Zion Park.

Day Three Third Stop - Warner Valley Site (again)

John and I return a little after dawn to view the tracks one more time. Someone had chalked up the tracks a day before we got there (and did a sloppy job at it as well).

Two views of track # A2.

Another view of the 17 Grallator trackway and a close-up of one of the tracks.

Another view of a different Grallator trackway and a close-up of the tracks.

Exiting photos. The syncline photos are from Calico, CA in case you are wondering.
